We have supported The FA Women’s National League for three years now, continuing to grow the profile and visibility of the league, and the 24/25 season was our most successful yet!
We started the year with a bang, spotlighting some key opening weekend fixtures and hosting media and influencers at games across the league from AFC Wimbledon to Dulwich Hamlet. Fixture profiling remained an undercurrent of all our work across the season, profiling some of the biggest local derbies, league rivalries and top table clashes.
With so many of the FA WNL players juggling football with other careers, a key pillar of our work is capitalising on the relatable and strong human-interest stories. We do this through an eye-opening series ‘Behind the Ball’ which profiles some of the league’s players and their lives on and off the pitch.
This season we worked with some inspiring athletes including Bournemouth Sports’ Kitty Norman who balances playing with a career as a lifeboat trainer for the RNLI, and Loughborough Lightning’s Doris Greenwood who, when she’s not scoring goals, is developing the first of it's kind hormone device for female footballers to monitor their menstrual cycle and its impact on injury.
A key calendar moment for the league is the FA WNL Cup competition and this year we scaled things up, organising cup draws with women’s football content creators that reached a combined audience of 23.25k viewers.
Once the finalists were decided we also worked with women’s football legend and FA WNL Cup Trophy winner with Arsenal, Anita Asante, to drive ticket sales and speak on her thoughts ahead of the final. Our attention then turned to the day itself where we hosted women’s football media and content creators to showcase the day, which saw Nottingham Forest crowned champions.
So much more went into making this year a success from a Manager of the Month series to end of season awards and across the whole season we saw 75 pieces of earned media coverage and 102 pieces of social content. This work spotlighted various players, managers and club stories from more than 35 clubs across the league.
We’re excited to do it all again this year and continue to raise the profile of the league.
