MatchFit Sporting Moment: Norris wins at Silverstone and Usyk reigns supreme over Dubois

As part of MatchFit's commitment to sport, employees are given the opportunity to experience an incredible sporting moment each year. Recently, Ken Lee and Will Roberts cashed in their 'Sporting Moment' benefit to witness two huge events - the British Grand Prix and the heavyweight world clash of Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois.

Here's how they went ...

Ken Lee, Account Executive

As part of a brilliant opportunity through the MatchFit Sporting Moment, where employees are given £250 each year to put towards attending a sporting event, I had the chance to attend the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Friday through to Sunday, and it was nothing short of unforgettable.

Silverstone really knows how to bring together the best of British motorsport and culture. I got to see the drivers up close at the main stage, including Lewis Hamilton with his dog Roscoe, and 1-2 finishers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, both doing a shoe-y each - it was really special.

As someone who was hoping for a Lewis Hamilton win, I wasn't necessarily backing Lando from the start, but seeing a British driver take the victory on home soil was undeniably incredible. The atmosphere around the track was roaring as I sat on the start/finish line at turn 1.

Another memorable (and slightly less glamorous) moment was the torrential downpour on Sunday, I was absolutely drenched. But honestly, that only added to the experience - a true taste of British summer and the unpredictability of F1 weekends. This was only my second ever Grand Prix, and it already feels like one of the most exciting races I’ve had the privilege to witness.

From the wheel-to-wheel racing, to the buzz in the crowd, it reminded me just how thrilling Formula 1 can be when the conditions, the drivers, and the home crowd all come together.

Will Roberts, Senior Account Manager

After deliberating for months on how to spend my MatchFit Sporting Moment cash, there could only really be one winner - Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois’ undisputed heavyweight world title fight at Wembley Stadium. Bosh!

The buzz and air of anticipation as we walked down Wembley Way was palpable - a mix of die-hard Ukrainian boxing fans primed to witness Usyk’s technical brilliance, and proud Brits backing Dubois. Queue: ‘OOOO Dan-iel Dub-oissss...’

With it being the first boxing match that I’d been able to see live in the flesh, I walked into the stadium with an open mind, and it certainly delivered. Being slap bang on the halfway line as a symphony of Sweet Caroline rang around the sold-out stadium was unreal. The ring walks were nothing short of spectacular and set the tone for what was to come.

Usyk’s skill, footwork and composure were something to behold. While Dubois fought bravely, it quickly became clear we were witnessing a Usyk masterclass once again. Then it was over with a swift fifth-round knockout blow which sent Dubois’ mouthguard flying.

A huge thank you to MatchFit for the opportunity! It’s not every day you get to witness a world title bout at one of the most iconic venues in sport - a proper bucket-list moment!
